- Vector addition can be performed either graphically
- or through the use of components. In the graphical method,
- the first step is to establish a direction as north. To begin,
- the first vector is drawn in scale in both magnitude and
- direction. At the head of this first arrow, the tail of the
- second arrow is begun. This arrow must also be in scale
- in both magnitude and direction. The resultant vector
- is then the arrow that is drawn from the tip of the first
- arrow to the head of the second arrow. Measuring the length
- of this arrow gives the resultant magnitude, and the angle
- from north gives the resultant direction.
